1At a glance
- No sign-up, no passwords and no profile — you can use every part of Lumen anonymously.
- One first-party cookie remembers your My List. Nothing else is stored about you.
- No advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.
- Trailers, posters and fonts load from trusted third parties, which receive the basic technical data any website request includes.
- We never sell or rent personal information.
2Information we collect
Information you give us. Lumen has no registration or forms. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message, and we use it only to reply.
Your list. When you tap “My List”, the ID of that title (for example stranger-things) is saved in a cookie in your browser so the list is still there next time. It contains no personal details and is sent back to our server only so we can show you the right titles.
Technical information. Like every website, our server receives standard request data when pages load — your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. Our hosting provider may keep these logs for a short period for security and to keep the site running smoothly. We don’t use them to identify or profile you.
4Third-party content
To show real artwork and trailers, some parts of each page are loaded directly from other services. When your browser requests them, those providers receive your IP address and browser information.
- YouTube (Google) — trailers are embedded in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (
youtube-nocookie.com), which avoids storing YouTube cookies until you press play. Trailer thumbnails load fromi.ytimg.com. See the Google Privacy Policy. - TVmaze — series posters and background images (
static.tvmaze.com). See the TVmaze privacy policy. - Wikimedia — film posters (
upload.wikimedia.org). See the Wikimedia Foundation Privacy Policy. - Google Fonts — the typeface used across the site. See the Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
Images are requested with no referrer, so these services aren’t told which Lumen page you were viewing.
5How we use information
- To show you the site and the titles you ask for.
- To remember your My List.
- To keep Lumen secure, fix problems and prevent abuse.
- To reply when you contact us.
We do not sell, rent or share personal information for advertising, and we don’t build profiles of visitors.
6How long we keep it
The mylist cookie lasts up to one year and is updated each time you change your list. Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting. Emails are kept only as long as needed to deal with your message.
7Your choices and rights
- Remove titles from My List at any time using the Remove button on the My List page.
- Clear the cookie through your browser settings to erase your list completely.
- Block third-party content with your browser or an extension. The site still works, although some posters or trailers may not appear.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or California privacy law), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information about you, or to object to how it is used. Because we hold almost no personal data, most requests can be handled simply by clearing your cookie — but you’re always welcome to contact us at contact@watchonlumen.com and we will respond within 30 days.
8Children
Lumen has a Kids & Family section to help families find suitable titles, but the site isn’t designed to collect information from children and doesn’t ask anyone for personal details. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.
9Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the site and the little data it handles, including keeping software up to date and limiting access to server logs. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to keep risks low.
10Changes to this policy
If we change how Lumen handles information, we’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
